At Gallery Coffee Roasters, we’re all about good vibes, big adventures, and the great coffee that fuels it.
Our Roots:
It all started with Ben, a long-time barista and seasoned photographer, who spent ten years behind the espresso machine before diving into the world of roasting. What began as a humble popcorn air-popper experiment to roast some home brew, soon grew into a passion project with his dad, Marc, who ended up building a custom fluid bed roaster in their garage.
“We went through so much coffee at home,” Ben laughs as he shares Gallery’s coffee origin story, “that it just made economical sense to try and roast our own beans.”
But Ben wasn’t satisfied with a generic coffee experience. He craved the perfect cup, so he brought in a Kaldi Home Roaster to dial in his craft and took the leap soon after to a 1kg roaster, where he started roasting for local cafes and restaurants in 2018.
Though he spent endless hours tweaking roasts and building tasting profiles, Ben’s passion for photography never waned. He continued to travel near and far for outdoor recreation shoots (with work featured in REI, Gregory Backpacks, Malibu Boats, Axis Boats, and FatSac Ballast Co. + Hyperlite Boards) and dreamed of a brick and mortar Gallery where he could showcase his prints his person.
Then someone said…”you should open up a coffee shop to display your prints and call it Gallery.” Just like that, Gallery Coffee Roasters was born.
Our coffee:
You’ll still find Ben behind the roaster at Gallery, now a San Franciscan [XXXXXXXX], where he roasts in small batches to ensure greater control and consistency from week to week.
We’re not just about good coffee; we’re committed to doing right by the planet and the farmers who make this all possible. From eco-friendly packaging to using the most energy-efficient roasters on the market, we’re working hard to keep our carbon footprint low while delivering that perfect cup you deserve.
So, if you’re in the neighborhood, come by the cafe and roastery—grab a cup, take a look behind the scenes, and join us on this adventure. We can’t wait to share the journey with you!
Ben is working to reach out and develop personal relationships with coffee producers around the world. The idea to bring in great coffees at a fair price and help support these producing communities to create better lives for themselves through sales. Being able to communicate and work with farmers is key to ensuring a great product from farm to cup.
